a hidden beauty was emerging....
a beauty now ready to reveal herself....
carefully guarded beauty was returning to the sanctuary...
an exquisitely performed Iban dance...
an impeccably performed Malay dance provided astonishment to the eyes....
a colorful Chinese dance....
Yes. The Malaysia Boston Gala Dinner was a matter of past. But it was spectacular and special in the sense that it reminded me that wherever I was, Malaysia is still at heart. Full credit goes to Blackheart for these awesome photos since I was so photographic dysfunctional (a wrong English could it be haha), having had to run here and there on that day for the multi-tasking jobs of co-emceeing, co-singing, co-coordinating and what not. The event held so graciously and most of the Malaysian Bostonians turned up with hundreds more pleaded to share the moments. We had earlier reminded "book early or you'll be booked out". Seemed like the procastination disease would haunt us anywhere we were. The event managed to reach beyond the mere organizing of a 'makan-makan' stuff. In fact, it was a splendid party with the highlights comprised a full package of multi - cultural dance performances by Tourism Malaysia and our star performer JARI. Enjoy!

Lady of the Harvard Square
|
|
soothing yet expensive Lady of Harvard Square
I first saw her in one of the stores in Harvard Square during the last spring and I was thinking "what kind of person would dress up the way she did. When I stepped outside, there she was again, standing tall on a small box (hidden by the length of her dress) barely sufficient to support her weight, singing with a sharp and loud voice yet soothing. Woah! she was a street opera singer. I've never seen this before. All this while, only street musicians or singers were there to make me poorer by few dollars. I was so mesmerized by her and I didn't mind parting with my seemingly decreasing dollars just to make her sing.
mesmerized by the stunningly gorgeous and talented street opera singer
See the box put in front of her with an artline writing saying "put your $ to make her sing". Yes, you have to put in it $1 for few seconds of entertainment otherwise she would just stop singing and stand there with a mannequin like postures - perfected by blinkless eyes or almost unshaken body. She would remain so until the next round of dollars found its way into her box. Argh! it was a rip-off. But it was worth every dollar you spent as nowhere else you could find this unique entertainment! No doubt she was dubbed "the Lady of Harvard Square" by the local press.

Captured using my friend's Canon Powershot A750, these were among the earliest batch of shots taken when I first arrived in Boston. Depressed and weakened by the cold winter, seeing these photos will cheer me up almost instantaneously. Though at that time, the temperature began to drop rapidly, still the Boston's beauty is apparent. If it doesn't well captured, I have only myself to be blamed for.
Will capture Boston city and its hidden treasures in the upcoming spring season....tunggguuuu!!!

My friend Badrol moved to Billerica from Malboro yesterday and as usual, I was one of the 'professional movers' to pack and unpack, load and unload, whole world of stuff 'you wish you could just dispose them off' when you move out (err..that was at least to my opinion..). Anyways, putting fatigue aside and with my newly acquired digicam at hand, this amateur photographer needs to show off some skills (at least I know how to push the right button hahaha) and at times I felt like a paparazzi since Badrol drove rapidly passing through the small towns of Malboro and Billerica as I captured some photos along the journey. The only difference, there were no celebrities only beauties of nature!

Boston's Blizzard
|
|
The recent blizzard in Boston was reportedly one of the fifth worst that had ever happened in US. I only knew about the fact the next day, with the number of death stood at 18. Captured the wrath of the blizzard as seen in the photos when things were back to normalcy. Was determined to remain indoor during the blizzard as I saw the strong gush of wind with all its might that I thought we were in the midst of a hurricane instead and felt the chill air penetrating through the gap hole of the apartment window, forgetting the most photographic moments of a life time. Safety first!
The photos were taken (then using my friend's digicam) around my residential area -Bay State Rd, Kenmore Square and Brookline Avenue in Boston. There are news for another upcoming blizzard-hmmm that will keep this amateur photographer buzy huh?
