Enough of the nostalgia series. Time to get back to the present day! It's a bright sunny day today thus tempting me to go outside and enjoy the good weather. It won't last. Tomorrow, the weatherman says gonna be snowy. Again? Whatever it is, the fine weather and the fact that I've just realized that I don't have any BU snapshots under my keep, made a perfect excuse to forgo a much deserved sleep How could I miss all the fun? I couldn't resist the temptation! Hence, my collection. Enjoy!

The Gateway to Kelantan ~ the new Sultan Ismail Petra Airport
|
|
No no no I'm still here in Boston. This was quite some time ago....when I was there, frequently commuting between KBR and KUL. Not quite amazing pics that I've got here since I was in a rush to catch a flight to KL (hence few Nokia snaps) and furthermore, my digicam was not within reach....but hopefully the blurry photos would be a start for a welcoming greeting of some sort to my state ~Kelantan Darul Naim! Nothing spectacular though, but those who had been regularly flying into the state via the previous airport and the current one would have noticed the huge differences! Images are small to minimise the blurry effects..

When I read in a daily paper that the former official residence (prior to Putra Jaya's Sri Perdana) of the previous Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Mahathir, was opened for a public viewing, I grabbed the opportunity just to have a glimpse on what actually a prime minister's residence would look like. It was still free at the time (now it could've cost you at least RM10), so there me and my housemate headed to on a fine weekend. From the collection of antique and modern cars to the Barber's corner, you will be able to relate on how the former PM had spent his time around the official residence. You will see the Meeting Room which important decisions of the past had been taken therein. You will be ushered to the Banquet Room whereby all the state's official dinners were held previously. Don't forget to take a peep at the First Daughter's bedroom, or at least go to the personal kitchen of the former PM. Or may be you want to see the Tea Corner which is fitted with a telescope for the ex-PM to follow the construction progress of the KL Tower! Enough illustrations for that, you've got to be there, then you'll appreciate the photos more. Hopefully, I will not get arrested for this-they forbiddened electronic devices (read: cameras, videocams etc) into the residence! I was supposed to hand over the camera phone to the security people, but I didn't! So many a shot that I had missed though since I had to be on alert for those people!

I don't fancy museums in Malaysia generally and when my colleague and I had to do accompany a US Federal Reserves Bank officer for an official trip to the Islamic Museum (nearby the National Mosque) in Kuala Lumpur as part of an exchange program between my department and the Fed, naturally, I was initially quite reluctant. But, you just didn't have much choices, did you? We proceeded with the program and to my great astonishment, the visit turned out to be worthwhile and I was completely awed by the collections of Islamic artifacts-some aged thousand years. Couldn't feature some significant artifacts since cameras were not allowed in and security officers were everywhere, overzealously observing the visitors. I had however managed to snap a few photos by my Nokia 6600 (yes again-this time proved to be the most precious thing that I've ever had) eventhough at times, I was caught snapping around and thus reprimanded accordingly by the security officers.
